Common questions

Pricing and Quotes

How do quotes work?

We assess the job, whether that's a look in person or a description over the phone for something simple, and put a fixed written price before we start. Accept it, and that's what you pay.

How do I pay?

Payment is taken once the job's complete and you're happy with it. We'll talk you through the options when we quote.

Do prices change once you start?

No, the number we quote is the number on the invoice. If something unexpected turns up, we stop and talk it through with you before going any further.

What does the $50 off your first service actually cover?

It's deducted from whatever your first job with us costs, on top of a quote that's already free. Nothing to spend a minimum on, no fine print.

Common questions

Licensing and Safety

What is a safety switch and do I need one?

A safety switch (RCD) shuts a circuit down in a fraction of a second the moment current escapes to earth, and that speed is what stops a shock turning serious. A good number of Pennant Hills' original boards were never fitted with one.

What is AS/NZS 3000?

It's the Australian wiring standard every electrician has to work to, covering everything from cable sizing to circuit protection. It's the benchmark every job we finish is tested against before we sign off.

What brands do you install?

Clipsal and Hager for switches and circuit protection, Beacon Lighting and SAL for fittings. We don't fit budget imports, on principle.

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

Only very basic tasks, changing a globe or a lamp plug and nothing more. Fixed wiring is a licensed electrician's job in NSW, and skipping that isn't just against the rules, it's genuinely dangerous.

Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

What happens after I call?

You talk to a real local, describe the problem, and we find a time that works around your day. For anything urgent, we triage it on the spot rather than making you wait for a callback.

How do I book?

Call (02) 9538 7444 or use the contact form on this site. Either way, a real person gets back to you to lock in a time.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Burning smells, sparking, exposed wiring, or a total loss of power with no obvious cause. These jump straight to the front of the queue; one dead power point or a light that's started flickering generally doesn't need an after-hours call.

Common questions

Local to Pennant Hills

Do you know Pennant Hills' housing stock?

Well. Federation and Californian bungalows, the post-war brick homes that followed, and the newer builds close to the line all present differently once the switchboard's open, and we know what to expect before we even get there.

Why do Pennant Hills' older homes need switchboard upgrades?

Plenty of the suburb's Federation and interwar homes still run original fuse-wire boards, sized for a household running only a handful of appliances at once. Adding air conditioning or a kitchen renovation is usually what finally pushes an old board past its limit.

Do you work on heritage or strata properties?

Yes, regularly. Heritage-era homes need extra care around cornices and existing finishes when running new circuits, and strata work means coordinating access and paperwork with owners corporations, both of which we're well set up to handle.

How local are you, really?

We're working somewhere in Pennant Hills or the neighbouring Hornsby Shire suburbs most weeks, not driving in from across Sydney. That's what makes our stated response times something we can actually stand behind.
